When 71,000 people want to exile you to one of the most remote places imaginable, there’s not much you can do but grin and bear it. That’s what Pitbull seems to be doing—and he may indeed run into a bear or two—after a Facebook promotion designed to send the rapper to the most-liked Walmart on Facebook was hijacked and used for an #ExilePitbull campaign. In the end, Walmart’s store in Kodiak, Alaska, got more than 71,000 likes, easily winning the contest, co-sponsored by Sheets Energy Strips—and dooming Pitbull to spend time in the 49th state. “I heard that Kodiak, Alaska, has the most likes due to someone that thinks he was playing a prank,” Pitbull says in the video below. “I said, OK, great, this sounds really good. What you gotta understand is that I will go anywhere in the world for my fans.” (Apparently he will also do the same for those who despise him.) He then goes on to invite the pranksters—David Thorpe and Jon Hendren of the website Something Awful—to join him in Kodiak. Thorpe says he will go, but he’s concerned. “Is anyone else detecting a vague undercurrent of menace in the Pitbull video?” he writes on Twitter. “I am almost definitely getting killed in Kodiak.” Via Rolling Stone.
